My name is Becca Romeo, and I’ve proudly worked at Animation Mentor for almost 4 years. I was originally hired in 2009 to manage our Career Services Department …a job that I loved tremendously because I got to work with so many of our amazing alumni. Most recently, I’ve been promoted to a new role, Industry Relations Manager, so I thought I would share a little bit about what I do!

It’s All About the Industry and Animation Mentor

Since Animation Mentor was founded in 2005, we have worked hard to develop and maintain positive industry relationships — these include studios, artists, conference organizers, partners such as our friends at Autodesk, and more. In my new role, I’ll continue working with our industry partners to help enhance the Animation Mentor experience for you — our incredibly passionate community of students and alumni. Another focus of mine will be to conduct research and outreach so I can introduce the school to new industry contacts worldwide, something I’m quite excited about! Since we have students and alumni in over 90 countries — I have a lot of work ahead of me … not to mention a lot of opportunities to share your work with the world.

It’s been such an honor over the years to not only meet so many dedicated students, graduates, and talented artists but to also meet the wonderful people who behind the scenes contribute greatly to the films, games, TV shows, and commercials that we all know and love. There are many reasons why I love this industry, but if I had to choose one — it would most definitely be the people. This is a business that attracts dedicated, passionate, hard-working individuals who always strive to improve themselves and help others succeed. These people inspire me every single day and is why I love my job.

And It’s (Always) All About You

Over the years, I’ve so enjoyed meeting you, first chatting about our Character Animation Program — and for some of you, watching you continue to our Animals & Creatures: Master Class. I have to say, seeing so many of you graduate and begin your journey in this industry has been the most amazing experience I’ve had in my professional career to date. Now that I’ve moved to a new role, I look forward to my work ahead so I can help the Animation Mentor crew provide new experiences and open even more doors for you — our dedicated, talented community.

I can’t wait to start!

Hi Becca, It’s always been a pleasure to keep in touch with you. How you take care of us will make a huge difference in our career as animators, I mean, I’ll never forget how you made me feel very welcome when I first met you and also gently introduced me to the AM buddies during the Siggraph. There’s no doubt that you are the right person for that. Good luck for your new role.
